Notice how the colored liquid rises into the twisted curves at the top, as if by magic! The heat of your hand increases the temperature of the liquid which increases the air pressure in the container. The increased air pressure pushes the liquid up the tube. When all the liquid reaches the top bulb, air bubbles are forced up the tube, causing the liquid in the top bulb to appear to "boil".
